Project Details

Tulsa Remote offers eligible remote workers a $10,000 grant and support to relocate to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and has welcomed thousands of members since it launched in 2018. The platform is where that journey starts and continues: it explains the program, checks eligibility, takes applications, and then helps members settle in and find their people.

The public site presents the program details, member stories, press coverage and a "Why Tulsa" section with local resources and a cost-of-living comparison tool. A blog publishes neighbourhood guides and city news. Behind it, members get a portal for community information and local events, so new arrivals can connect with other remote workers and the wider city.

The Business Challenge

Persuading someone to move to a new city takes more than a grant. Prospective members needed clear answers on eligibility, costs and daily life before applying, and the program needed one place to take them from a first visit to an application. After the move, new residents needed an easy way to meet other members, find local events and get practical help settling in, so the community side mattered as much as the marketing site.

The Solution Delivered

Harvions Tech built the platform with a React front end and a Node.js API backed by MongoDB, hosted on DigitalOcean. The public site is organised around the questions applicants ask: program details, eligibility, community, "Why Tulsa", resources and FAQs, with a clear "Apply Now" path throughout. The cost-of-living tool lets visitors compare Tulsa with the city they live in now. For members, the portal brings community information and local events together, and WebSockets keep activity and updates current without page reloads. The blog and resource pages give the program fresh, useful content for prospective and current members.
