MicroCast - Video
Recording Platform
A video platform for teams to record, polish and share product demos, sprint reviews and how-to videos,
then see who watched and what they said.

Project Details
MicroCast is a web platform for asynchronous video. Teams record or upload videos such as product demos, sprint reviews, release notes and how-to guides, edit them in the browser, and share a link instead of booking another meeting. Every video lives in a searchable library that can be viewed as a grid or a list and sorted by date.
The overview dashboard shows total views, average watch duration, number of recordings and comments, each with its change over the selected period, plus a views chart over time. The in-browser editor lets creators change the background with an uploaded image, a colour, Unsplash photos or macOS-style wallpapers, adjust background blur, and use cut, zoom, layout, subtitles and border tools, with a camera bubble over the recording. Videos can be previewed, shared by link or downloaded, and paid plans unlock more features.

The Business Challenge
Remote teams lose hours to meetings that could have been a short video, but plain screen recordings look rough and disappear into chat threads. The goal was a product where anyone can record a polished video in minutes, keep every recording organised in one place, and know whether the right people actually watched it. That meant handling large video files reliably, editing in the browser without heavy desktop software, and giving creators clear numbers on views and engagement.
The Solution Delivered
Harvions Tech built MicroCast with a Next.js front end and a Node.js API. Videos are uploaded to and served from AWS S3, while video APIs handle processing and playback. The editor applies backgrounds, blur, layout and borders around the recording and adds subtitles, cuts and zoom without leaving the browser. WebSockets push new comments and view activity to the dashboard as they happen. The analytics dashboard compares views, watch time, recordings and comments across periods, and the library makes every recording searchable. Sharing links, downloads and plan-based upgrades are built into the same flow.
